"A Face for Human Rights in Iran" from Gent

Belgium is aware of the inhuman system in Iran

Amnesty International and the International Committee to support the rights of Sufis and Students in Iran took actions in Brussels and Gent

Amnesty International Belgium went to the streets on the 18th of september to inform and to protest against the danger of a woman in Iran being stoned. The case of Sakineh Ashtiani has become well known abroad through the work of her lawyer Mohammed Mostafei who had to flee Iran for fear of persecution and torture. Amnesty declared in Brussels that stoning is an incredible cruel punishment that not only is a torture for the person being stoned but also involves onlookers in the public murder.

Several celebrities in France have already protested against the danger of Mrs Ashtianis sentence of being stoned.

Friends of the International Committee for the rights of dervishes and students in Iran travelled from Germany, Netherlands and France to Gent for another action called "A face for human rights in Iran". As in preceding actions they gathered more than hundred faces of people dedicated to the human rights in Iran. In Gent a cultural festival took place with people from various countries visiting. On the Kouter marketplace regional artists displayed their work and participated with dedication at the action of the Committee. Next action will be on 2nd of october in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
